1. BJ’s Parlour

BJ’s has been producing top-quality creamy treats for five generations. Everything is handmade here and they source local ingredients whenever possible including the cream, nuts, and berries. Besides the delicious frozen desserts, they also make fudge, caramel corn, and saltwater taffy, all from scratch. The handmade waffle cones are amazing and make a great vehicle for one of the many fabulous flavors of frozen yogurt. This is a can’t miss spot in Albany. 

2. Hasty Freez

If you can’t decide between delicious burgers and delicious sweet treats, then you’re in luck because Hasty Freez has both. This joint is wildly popular with the college crowd and has become somewhat of an institution in the area. Try out one of their deluxe cheeseburgers and then satisfy your sweet tooth with butterscotch or strawberry cone. The soft-serve is so incredibly rich and creamy and has kept people coming back for generations.

3. Yogurt Extreme

This is a fun place to bring the kids and enjoy one of their many different flavors of frozen yogurt. The staff is bubbly and informative and will help you craft the perfect cup or cone. There are endless toppings to choose from so this is not a good spot for the indecisive folks. Luckily the staff lets you taste-taste different flavors before you buy to guarantee your satisfaction. Try the crushed Jolly Rancher or the Euro Tart.

4. King Kone

This classic hole-in-the-wall offers a lot more than meets the eye. Don’t be fooled by its outdated looks, King Kone is a true gem that serves mouth-watering burgers and some of the best soft-serve in the land. The light and creamy texture have made this place a family tradition for hoards of folks in the Albany area. The burgers are enormous so bring an appetite and be sure to try one of the many flavors of excellent shakes.

5. Shortstops

At Shortstops, you come for the burgers, stay for the fries, and never leave because of the sweet treats. The burgers are delicious and always cooked just right, while the fries have a tasty seasoning that separates them from other run-of-the-mill burger joints. The sundaes and shakes are magnificent and are the perfect way to top off the meal. They also make a mean veggie burger for all of the non-meat-eaters out there.
